Tata Group-backed omnichannel jewellery retailer CaratLane is accelerating its expansion plans, targeting 40 to 50 new stores nationwide in FY27, including five to seven outlets across Eastern India in the coming months. The brand currently operates more than 388 stores across India, of which 69 are in Eastern India.
Kolkata Flagship Anchors Eastern India Push
As part of its eastern growth strategy, CaratLane has opened a new flagship store in Gariahat, one of Kolkata's key commercial and shopping destinations. The brand also plans to grow its West Bengal network from 31 stores across 11 cities to 35 outlets in the longer term.
Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director, CaratLane, said Kolkata is a key market for the brand, "driven by strong cultural roots and an appetite for contemporary design," adding that the Gariahat flagship "thoughtfully incorporates regional flavours into its design and decor" as the brand scales to over 35 stores in West Bengal.
Strong Q1 Momentum Fuels the Growth Plan
CaratLane posted 42% growth in Q1 FY27, alongside a 28% increase in its buyer base
The Gariahat store spans everyday wear, gifting, wedding jewellery and special-occasion categories, integrated with the brand's omnichannel shopping experience
Recent collection launches include Kaashika, Polki, Shaya Diamonds, and a contemporary 9kt gold jewellery range aimed at younger consumers
The company says continued investment in retail expansion, product innovation and digital commerce will support its growth trajectory
The expansion comes amid intensifying competition in India's organised jewellery retail sector, with brands investing across physical stores, digital platforms and omnichannel strategies to capture demand from both metro and non-metro markets. Rising interest in branded jewellery, wedding purchases, gifting and contemporary designs continues to drive category growth.
