Century-old jewellery brand Sri Jagdamba Pearls, known for its pearl craftsmanship, is set to expand its retail footprint with a new store in Visakhapatnam (Vizag). The brand announced the move via social media, describing it as the arrival of "a legacy of timeless pearls" to the City of Destiny.
A Century of Heritage Heads to Andhra Pradesh
Founded in 1924, Sri Jagdamba Pearls has built its identity around pearl, gold and diamond jewellery, with a long-standing presence in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The proposed Vizag launch marks the brand's next step into a key South Indian jewellery consumption centre, though it has not yet disclosed an exact opening date or store location.
Why Vizag, and What It Means for the Category
Visakhapatnam has emerged as an important urban and retail market in Andhra Pradesh, driven by rising consumer spending, expanding organised retail, and strong cultural affinity for gold and traditional jewellery
The city offers access to both local shoppers and buyers from surrounding districts
Sri Jagdamba Pearls' entry is expected to bring its core pearl-led proposition to a new customer base while widening its presence in the gold and diamond segments
The move reflects a broader industry trend of jewellery retailers looking beyond metro cities to build in high-potential regional markets, where consumers increasingly favour organised, branded and trust-led jewellery retail
With the new Vizag store, Sri Jagdamba Pearls will look to extend its heritage positioning into Andhra Pradesh, introducing its established pearl, gold and diamond portfolio to a fresh regional audience.
